In the final chapter of the book Dr. Graham shares about two different realities of time and existence - "Then and Now." And although though the "Now" might now be easy or pleasant, the "Then;" oh that will be glorious! It will be real, it will be awesome and it will be eternal. And I don't know about you but I am excited and hopeful as I join Dr. Graham on our individual journeys here on earth "Nearing Home." Granted I'm pretty sure that all of Graham's books have been very evangelistic in nature, and I guess I just don't really enjoy that. I'm a Christian reading a book I feel is geared towards Christians, you don't need to present the Gospel to me again. I understand others don't have that opinion and also that with a book focusing on end of life issues that it may result in a slightly more varied group reading it, but it's not something I particularly enjoy when reading Graham's works.

A reader could accept the second sentence from Graham while offering his or her own spiritual understanding in a third sentence, which might or might not agree with Graham's. A secularist, Jewish person, or Buddhist, for example might want to put spiritual beliefs in their own terms. As I read the book, I thought Graham said some very broad based valuable things that could teach people of diverse religious persuasions. I was uncomfortable with some of the explicitly evangelical portions of the teaching, which suggest that Graham's way to God might be the only way. The book becomes more theological in tone as it proceeds, with the final chapter devoted to a depiction of Heaven followed by a call to the reader to come forward and accept Jesus as one's Savior. This mirrors the great evangelist's procedures at his many religious crusades.
Waiting For God At Doug Mastriano’s Election Night Watch Party
He is candid about the resultant frustration and pain. The Legend, Billy Graham, writes this book for any age or person to read. About Real Life and how God is the only true One to help through these peril times. He has learnt the hard way about the physical limitations imposed by old age and recognises that many old people become bitter but stresses that it need not be so.
I am so happy that he chose to write this book about how to live an honorable and useful life as we grow older. There is much useful information for those of any age, but especially those who are starting to feel the restrictions of age. Rev. Graham shows how God used men and women from the Bible when they were in their later years of life, and, of course, how He can still use us today. The earnest evangelist hitting his lifelong note comes through. Don't see nearly as much of the man behind the message as I might have hoped.
About this product
They shouldn’t drive and they can’t do anything, some say. With our attitudes we drive that point into their psyche until they believe it. And while there is nothing wrong with a senior who loves to travel or who is able to retire well, some seniors stop helping. Graham drives in his point that there is no retirement in this world or in the next. Growing up, I always heard about Bill Graham, I cannot say I followed his ministry but I know Rick Warren, looked up to him a lot and was totally shaken when Graham died. Rick Warren spoke so highly of Graham, when I saw his book at a garage sale I had to get it and I am happy I did.
He had retired from traveling and speaking when he wrote this book, so part of his intent in writing was to share the gospel in a way that he still could. The plan of salvation is very clearly outlined in it, and it's a very important component to include when you're writing for people who may be older or ill and know they don't have much time left. "Sometimes I have to force my mind to turn away from whatever problem is absorbing me at the moment and make myself focus on the needs of others," he writes. As the great-grandfather of 43, he warns against going into debt buying expensive gifts for grandchildren. Be the first to know about the BGEA’s work in your community and around the world.
Inside The Apocalyptic Christian World Of Doug Mastriano And The GOP
Of course, the book is filled with practical advice from the pages of the Bible. Not surprising from the most famous evangelist of our time. This is a wonderful book not only for seniors, but for every age. As a matter of fact, young adults will benefit from this book because Rev. Graham gives great insight into the need for preparing for the future. This is an easy book to read and I appreciated his message.
I am 64, retired, and wanted to hear what Graham had to say. Graham brings personal knowledge as well as religious teaching to bear upon his subject. He retired in 2005 from the rigors of the evangelical ministry in which he had engaged for more than 50 years. At the age of 92, Graham has become increasingly frail and his activities curtailed severely.
I received this book for review from the Thomas Nelson Booksneeze program. This is a book for everyone, there is so much wisdom packed into this read. Despite being a Christian since preschool, I've never actually read any of Billy Graham's books, or even heard an entire sermon in full.

Heaven is our goal and our true home, which isn't really the narrative of the Bible. The earth is our home and it will be renewed at the end of all things. I also feel that our end goal is to be with God, not so much a particular place in general.
Perhaps if we followed Billy Graham’s example we could have a chance at bridging the generation gap. Our young people need to learn the lessons of our grandparents and our seniors need the young people for flexibility and youthfulness. Graham also spoke about preparing for death, and not just in the financial sense.

There are only 10 short chapters to the book but there's so much wisdom and insight that is shared by Dr. Graham in it that the book is a very enjoyable read. And the fact that Dr. Graham "has been there and done that" when it comes to a lot of the types of experiences many of us go through on our way to glory makes the book all the more compelling. He talks as a sage who has truly learned wisdom and the way of the wise in contrast to the way of the foolish of our day who have no regard for God or his Word, the faith, or anything sacred.
Just a moment while we sign you in to your Goodreads account. Filled with thought provoking wisdom from His Word and Billy Graham. This is a personal, intimate book, and one which I found inspiring. But he has plenty of insights for younger people to consider as well.
Growing older is not easy and can easily be depressing if we focus on what we can’t do instead of what we can. Rev. Graham has accomplished so much for the cause of Christ, but he is always humble in his demeanor and writing. Rev Billy Graham is one of the most well known and respected Christian pastors.
